The Volunteer Activity of Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival

The Foreign Languages Institute actively participated in the 12th Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu(Shaolin martial arts) Festival volunteers service activities.

The biennial 12th China Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival will be held in Dengfeng City, the hometown of martial arts. The purpose of this competition is to promote Chinese civilization, inherit martial arts culture, let the world understand Zhengzhou, and let martial arts go to the world. The Foreign Languages Institute has repeatedly participated in the volunteer service of the International Shaolin Wushu Festival and has maintained long-term friendly cooperative relations with the Zhengzhou Sports Bureau, which holds the International Shaolin Wushu Festival. In order to meet the requirements and regulations of the Zhengzhou Municipal Sports Bureau, and to ensure the smooth progress of the competition, the Foreign Languages Institute began to mobilize and select volunteers from July this year, and selected 49 students with high professional quality and strong communication skills. These students were selected to provided volunteer services such as arrangement, awarding and translation for the competition's organizing committee and national teams for nearly four months.

On the morning of October 18, before the volunteer service team left, Jianhui Wang, secretary of the Party Committee of the Foreign Languages College, and Dan Jiao, deputy secretary of the party committee, saw off the volunteers of our school. Mr. Wang first expressed his expectations for this international Shaolin Wushu Festival and gave sincere hopes for the volunteers.

Then, he introduced the main tasks of the activity to the volunteers. In particular, Mr. Wang put forward detailed requirements for the volunteers in three aspect―service attitude, reception and equal treatmen. He carefully reminded the students to observe the rules and regulations in the service process, listen to the arrangement, pay attention to safety, cherish this volunteer service opportunity, and regard this volunteer service as a growth experience.

Finally, the volunteers thanked the college for providing the opportunity to exercise, expressed the enthusiasm to participate in the activity. They said that they would live up to their expectations and work hard to do a good job of service and win honor for the college. Our Foreign Languages Institute believes that volunteers will get training and promotion from this Wushu Festival.

May the 12th Zhengzhou International Shaolin Wushu Festival be a complete success.
